Motivation Monday – Spice it Up!

I don’t know about where you are, but here in Memphis change is all around.  The time, the weather, the landscape.  Why not examine your fitness/running/lifestyle routine today and see if you need to change that up a bit?!  Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Tired of the same old running route around the neighborhood?  Drive to a park and forge a new trail!  In Memphis, try downtown by the river, Shelby Forest, the Greenline or Shelby Farms!
  • Tired of getting up at 5 AM to make it to the gym by the time it opens at 5:30?  Hit snooze this morning and pack your bag for after work!  There’s an entirely different crowd in the evening – you may find a new favorite workout time, or you may hate it and look forward to your next early morning session!
  • Tired of pushing yourself through your routine?  Sign up to take a class or hire a trainer!  The group atmosphere of a class can be extremely motivating and fun, as well as having a trainer pushing you through a few extra sets!
  • Tired of spending an hour or more in the gym?  Try an interval workout!  The idea is to push yourself hard for short periods of time while decreasing the total time you spend working out (sounds like a great deal to me!)
