Day 26 – Make it Three

And another run was spent on the treadmill.  With rain in the forecast for the entire day, I opted to save my run until right before Spin class this afternoon.

January 26 – Day 26/31

Location – Treadmill at Inside Out Gym

Weather Notes: rainy and chilly

Distance: 2 miles total, 1 and change running

Time: about 24 minutes total

Other notes: Today’s run was a different take on my usual interval routine.  First I warmed up with a half mile jog (7.0 mph) and then followed this pattern:

1. 30 seconds at 9.0, 90 seconds at 3.5

2. 30 seconds at 9.0, 90 seconds at 3.5

3. 30 seconds at 9.5, 90 seconds at 3.5

4. 30 seconds at 9.5, 90 seconds at 3.5

5. 30 seconds at 10.0, 90 seconds at 3.5

6. 30 seconds at 10.5 – this pace was terrifying!  I had visions of flying right off the treadmill because of malfunction or misstep!, 90 seconds at 3.5

7. 30 seconds at 10.0, 90 seconds at 3.5

8. 30 seconds at 10.0, 90 seconds at 3.5

The idea is to choose a sprint speed that is challenging for you – I played around a bit today and found that 10.0 is the pace I want to use for this workout in the future.  10.5 was just too scary!
